A common problem that people
experience after they injure their brain are the difficulties they may have
with their memory. I am no different, and am forever double-checking to make
sure that things are done properly. Why, just the other day I rode my pushbike
half a kilometre down the street, before I felt compelled to journey back to
make sure the front door was actually locked properly!
Since cooking gives me great
satisfaction, I can often be found in the kitchen kneading scones or chucking
together some rissoles. My parents, ever-supportive, have developed a system
which we use to help me in the kitchen. As I have done this over the past
little while, both my memory and confidence have improved. Some important
things are:
- Repetition,
where I will go over and over something until I get it;
- Having
a folder with recipes typed up, simply and succinctly;
- Having
a regular night where I will select, shop for and cook the meal.
